Brisca Formula two first started in the 1960's as the little brother to Brisca Formula one with the intention that it would be more accesible for the masses to participate and compete on a level playing field. The sport grew in the South West of England gradualy growing northwards during the 60's and 70's with a track opening in Scotland in 1981 (co-incidently the year Gordon was born!). Today BriSCA Formula 2 Stockcars is one of the largest Short Oval racing formulas in Europe with over 600 registered drivers, over 25 tracks and in excess of 200 meetings per year.
Racing on quarter mile oval tracks cars will average speeds 70mph with between 25 to 40 cars all jostling for the chequered flag. Contact is permitted to shift competing cars out of the way and the cars are built to accomodate this force with roll cages, metal bumpers and wheel gaurds. The cars are single seated and open wheeled weighing between 625kg and 685kg. They use Ford engines and regular unleaded fuel.
